Until now, a lot of our activities have been centred on helping international students already studying in various universities within the United Kingdom. Our organisation has helped a number of students achieve their aims of obtaining their degrees by assisting them with their different individual difficulties. We must admit that these students have all turned out to be overcomers and achievers. We are indeed proud of them. Here are some of our beneficiaries: My name is Mr David Sokoro, I Have just graduated from an Msc in Intelligence and strategic Studies . I work with the ministry of Defence in my Country and I can say I am one of the lucky few that got the opportunity to come to the UK to study. Although my Tuition was paid for by my Government, It didn't cover living and maintenance expenses. I had to work part time to maintain myself which was in itself an up hill struggle. Then the time for writing my dissertation came and I had a topic of choice that I was passionate about and would also boost my job position when I get back home. The problem was that I needed to travel to the United Nations Library in Switzerland to gather the relevant materials. I simply could afford neither the flight fare nor accommodation in Switzerland. The only other option left open to me was to choose another topic to write on which I really did not want to do.This organisation generously made it possible for me to travel to Switzerland and to finally write on the topic of my choice. Suffice to say, I made an A grade I will always be grateful for your help. I am Daichi Hiroshi Atsushi. I am studying for an engineering master's in automotive design. In Japan, I worked for a car manufacturer but wanted to increase my knowledge and skills in the industry so I came to the UK to achieve that. However, I did not realise how hard it would be to adjust to life in a different culture and language. When I found accommodation, I got my phone line and utilities connected but I did not fully understand the terms of the contracts and as such I ran up huge telephone and heating bills. I got totally swamped by my debts and I was so distressed that I just could not sleep let alone study. I was sponsoring my studies myself from my savings and I had no other source of paying the debts off. After a full days thorough search for student aid, I accidentally stumbled on This Foundation ....and I must say, that was the best thing that ever happen to me as they promptly granted me audience and also paid off all of my debt to the last penny as well as tutor me on the terms of my UK contracts to ensure that I never got into such trouble again. Hello. I am Mrs Felicity Mutemba and I have just graduated with an Msc in Health and Social Care Practice. Finishing my degree would not have been possible without the emotional support I received from staff of the Carrington Heritage Foundation. I had a baby boy just 4 months before my Government sent me to the UK to study. After two weeks of excitement, I was suddenly filled with so much misery as I missed my family so much especially the little boy and I could not be in contact with them often as provision for that was not made in my regular allowance. The worst happened when I wrote back to my employers asking for funds to enable me travel home to see my family especially as my son was ill at the time. They replied saying they had no extra funds budgeted for me. I became depressed and felt very guilty for leaving my family alone. My studies suffered seriously too.Luckily my University's afro-Caribbean society referred me to The Carrington Heritage Foundation who kindly gave me a little stipend to cover regular calls to my family as well as paid for me to go back home after my exams to see them. I came back feeling so rejuvenated and ready to tackle my dissertation with a clear and calm mind. 5 months into my masters program, my sponsor wrote me saying he was in financial trouble and so could not continue to fund my studies. The Carrington Heritage Foundation promptly stepped in to help me. In 2months time I would be graduating with a distinction. I am very grateful for their great help.Segun Owolabi. Msc Finance and Information Technology. I am Sandeep Patel. I came from India to study an MPhil in Communicable Diseases . I found that the textbooks and study materials required for my course were just too expensive for me. This organiation believed in me enough to pay for all my text books and materials. I owe my successful graduation to them and urge other international students in need not to be afraid to ask for help too. I am Xhin Lee and i am a lawyer from China. I came to study the LLm in International Business Law to keep me relevant to the rapidly expanding international trade between China and the rest of the world. I hoped to get a job to supplement my living expenses but since I have a disability (dyslexia), it prevented me from being employed to support myself like so many other students in England. I really needed more money. I tried so many other charities, but because I was not physically disabled, I was never considered. However The Carrington Heritage Foundation understood the gravity and limitations of my peculiar rare disability and offered me the help I required in the form of a top up allowance. Now I am studying harder and I am much more relaxed. |
